The Rwenzori Mountains
Our earliest knowledge was shaped in the Mountains of the Moon, where weather, terrain and timing demand respect. The Mountain Club of Uganda legacy established a culture of preparation, endurance and hospitality.

About Duiker & Dune
Duiker & Dune carries forward over 40 years of East African exploration, route knowledge and hospitality, rooted in the Mountain Club of Uganda and the Rwenzori Mountains.
Our story begins in the Rwenzori Mountains, where generations of guides, climbers and hosts learned that memorable journeys are built on preparation, trust and a deep understanding of place. Through the legacy of the Mountain Club of Uganda, that knowledge has been shaped over more than four decades.
Duiker & Dune was created to carry that spirit beyond the mountain trail. Today, we design immersive journeys across East Africa and the wider continent, combining local knowledge with thoughtful planning, personal attention and the freedom to travel at a more human pace.
We do not simply move people between attractions. We create journeys that help travellers understand where they are, who they are meeting and why the experience matters.
The company has changed with the times, but the principles remain the same: prepare carefully, understand the route and let the traveller experience a place rather than simply pass through it.
Our earliest knowledge was shaped in the Mountains of the Moon, where weather, terrain and timing demand respect. The Mountain Club of Uganda legacy established a culture of preparation, endurance and hospitality.
That knowledge expanded into wider East African travel: heritage, wildlife, rivers, cities and cross-border routes. The emphasis remained on thoughtful planning and a deeper relationship with place.
Today we bring that experience into tailored journeys, signature collections and travel concierge support for travellers who want Africa to feel personal, well paced and genuinely connected.
Our legacy is not simply a number. It informs how we plan routes, pace each day and anticipate the practical decisions that shape a traveller’s experience.
It means treating transfers, border crossings, accommodation, rest time, local context and safety as part of the journey itself.
We design around distance, road conditions, timing and the natural rhythm of each destination, not just a list of attractions.
We balance activity with rest, giving travellers enough time to notice, understand and enjoy where they are.
Our work can include transport coordination, accommodation extensions, arrival planning and cross-border travel support.
The name draws from the shy, agile duiker and, more specifically, the elusive Rwenzori black-fronted duiker associated with the mountain forests. It represents hidden beauty, resilience, discovery and the experiences found beyond the most obvious route.
The dune evokes Africa’s vast, timeless and iconic landscapes. It represents openness, movement and the scale of the continent. Together, Duiker and Dune express the intimacy and majesty that define African travel.
Travel should benefit the traveller, respect the host and leave the destination stronger than it was found.
We build around people who know the routes, seasons, communities and practical realities of each destination.
We favour experiences that create understanding and memory, rather than rushed attraction checklists.
Transport, accommodation, timing, safety and communication are part of the journey, not an afterthought.
Every itinerary can be adapted around pace, interests, budget, mobility and the experience a traveller wants to carry home.

Curated routes combining adventure, culture, wildlife, rest and meaningful local encounters.

Private journeys created around your dates, starting point, interests, preferred pace and budget.

Practical support for transport bookings, accommodation extensions, arrivals and cross-border routing.
The landscape that shaped our beginnings still shapes how we work: prepare carefully, travel respectfully, stay curious and never lose sight of the people who make a journey possible.
Our role as the official travel partner for AAMEA 2026 is one chapter in that continuing story, bringing our East African knowledge to delegates who want to experience more than the conference venue.
